Dolly Parton didn’t want a fancy schmancy gourmet meal to celebrate her 50th wedding anniversary with husband Carl Dean. Instead, she was happy with some good ol’ fast food.

Appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon last night (August 23), Parton opened up about how she and Dean celebrated their golden anniversary together in Ringgold, Tennessee, where they were originally married. They took a mini roadtrip after renewing their vows. “We took the little RV and went down and spent the night,” she said. “We just got fast food and ate in our camper and spent the night.”
The couple celebrated 50 years together on May 30. She added about the casual way they honored their time together, “It was [romantic] to us.”
That the two stopped to grab fast food should come as no surprise. Parton admitted in May that she and Dean often dine at Taco Bell on their date nights (via Taste of Country). “I love their tacos,” she said. “They also have little pizzas that I love.”
Parton and Dean prove that romance comes in all sorts of shapes, sizes and to-go boxes. “Date night, we do whatever feels happy and comfortable with us,” she said. “It’s hard for me to get him to dress up to go to a nice dinner because he’s just a country boy and hates that stuff. We do whatever’s good. We have a good time.”
